• Ayurveda

The word Ayurveda is made up of two components – 'Ayus' meaning 'Life' and 'Veda' meaning 'Science'. Thus Ayurveda literally means, 'the science of life'. This ancient system of medicine dates back to the Vedic period about 5000. Brahma (God), the Creator of the Universe is believed to be the originator of this system. From Brahma it passed on to the Rishis through Indra. From there it was promoted among the people for generations. Ayurveda not only deals with diseases and medicines, but also it covers all aspect of human being including all of his socio economical and personal well being.

  • The Thridhosha theory

As per this theory, all the physiological functions of the body are governed by three biological units named Vatha, Pitha and Kapha; each of which in turn is made up of thePanchabhootas. Vatha is responsible for all voluntary and involuntary movements in the human body, while Pitha is responsible for all digestive and metabolic actions in the body. Kapha provides stable energy for holding body tissues together. It also provides lubrication at the various parts of friction. When these doshas maintain a state of equilibrium, the body is healthy. When the equilibrium is disturbed, illness occurs.
